The North of England Open Air Museum is a living, working experience of life as it was in the Great North in the early 1800s and 1900s. The realism and attention to detail have won Beamish both the British Museum of the Year and European Museum of the Year Awards.

Features: Victorian Town, Colliery Village, 1825 Steam Railway and 1913 Station, Home Farm and Vintage rides on tramcars, buses, horse drawn carriages and vintage limousines.

Location: The museum is situated 10 miles west of Sunderland, well signed from the A693. Bus routes operate from Sunderland centre via Grindon Mill Inn, Shiney Row and Chester-le-Street.
