Originally built as a fort, Bleak House became Charles Dickens' favourite summer home and the inspiration for much of his writing. This museum is now dedicated to the history of Dickens and Smuggling in Broadstairs. Exhibits include maritime history, Dickens' study and the smugglers cellars.

Location: Set to the North of Viking Bay, the main beach area in Broadstairs, there is nearby parking off the corner of Nelson Place and Albion Street or pedestrian can walk from the Harbour Street beach parking.
